CBT – Traditional Talk Therapy

CBT – Traditional Talk Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, also known as traditional talk therapy involves one on one discussion with a therapist. Homework is typically assigned and together the therapist and client work to identify negative cognitions and assumptions which are believed by the client but are not always true.

Often people will start with CBT to ‘get their feet wet’, before jumping into other forms of therapy. These sessions are also used to get to know one another and identify areas of strength and weakness, which can be addressed later.

CBT is typically used for the following:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Phobias
  • PTSD
  • Sleep Disorders
  • Compulsive Disorders
  • Substance Abuse
